Why Are Badges Removed During PPF Installation?

To achieve that finish, we want the film to wrap neatly around edges rather than stopping abruptly at obstacles.

If a badge is left in place, the installer has to trim the film around each individual letter or emblem. While this may be quicker, it often leaves visible edges around the badge where dirt, wax, or contaminants can collect over time.

By removing the badge first, we're able to install the film cleanly across the panel before carefully reinstalling the badge in its original position.

The result is a much cleaner installation that looks more like the vehicle left the factory that way.

Is It Safe to Remove Vehicle Badges?

When done correctly, yes.

Most factory badges are attached using automotive-grade adhesive rather than screws or clips.

Using the correct tools and techniques, the badge can be removed without damaging the surrounding paint. Once the PPF has been installed, the badge is carefully refitted using fresh automotive-grade adhesive to ensure it sits securely and accurately.

Like many parts of a PPF installation, this isn't something that's rushed. Attention to detail is what makes the difference.

Why We Don't Simply Cut Around the Badge

It's certainly possible to install Paint Protection Film without removing the badge.

However, that's generally not the finish we're aiming for.

Cutting around a badge creates additional exposed edges, and every exposed edge becomes another place where dirt and contaminants can accumulate over time.

Removing the badge allows us to produce a cleaner result while reducing the number of visible film edges on the vehicle.
